Four-Story Currumbin Development Approved | VR News

Currumbin Development Project Receives Approval

The Gold Coast City Council has approved a NSW-based developer’s Four Story Currumbin Development. The development will feature seven high-end apartments designed by Plus Architecture, comprising a communal wellness center, pool, and beach house apartment on the ground floor, and communal terraces on the roof. The project has received approval despite opposition from more than 60 residents who argued that the height and scale of the project would diminish the character and amenity of the area.

Shoreline and Beach Shack Demolished for Kora

The Four Story Currumbin Development, known as Kora, will be constructed on a 786sq m site at 798-800 Pacific Parade, where a block of holiday apartments called Shoreline and a beach shack currently stand. The developer, Arena Property Group, purchased the site for $5.56 million in December 2020, the first time in 60 years that the property had changed hands.

Plus Architecture Designs Kora to Complement Currumbin’s Character

Plus Architecture principal Chrisney Formosa said that Kora’s design approach was “organic and uplifting, complementing Currumbin’s picturesque beachside character and its nearby natural landmarks of Currumbin Hills and Elephant Rock.” The development will have a gross floor area of 1300 square meters and feature large internal living space and balconies with ocean views. Construction is set to begin later this year.
